International Association of Plant Biotechnology
The first international conference of plant tissue culture was organized by Professor Philip R. White at Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA, U.S.A.) in 1963. The International Council for Plant Tissue Culture, later to become the International Association for Plant Tissue Culture and Biotechnology (IAPTC&B), was founded at this conference. The primary activities of the IAPTC&B have been to organize quadrennial congresses of plant tissue culture and biotechnology, and to publish a newsletter/journal for its membership.
